I took a quick trip to TX recently to do some turkey hunting with a good friend of mine. It was the second day of the hunt. We got out of the truck to gather out things and the turkeys were already gobbling. My friend and I looked at each other and got a big grin on our faces. We hurried to the blind, set up a borrowed decoy, and settled in. The turkeys were gobbling all around us and when it was light enough I made some yelps on my slate. Immediately we had our answers. They turkeys were on the way. It took them awhile, but they finally made their way into the setup. My buddy had the video camera rolling and when they got near the decoy he said shoot when you’re ready. I drew my General and lined up on the nearest bird and let go. The arrow passed through like a laser beam and the turkeys took off running. My turkey only made it 12 yards and piled up. The other birds took off after him and just added insult to injury by jumping and scratching him. What a memorable hunt and what a great way to share some quality outdoor time with friends.

I went down to West Texas for a 4-day hunt at the Buck Horn Ranch, a 9000 acre ranch with plenty of game.
I saw a lot of deer, 6 and 8 points, but no Mr. Big. On my last morning I staked out my friend Gerald’s brush blind and waited for daylight. I could hear something walking around me on the rocks but it just wasn’t light enough yet. I was going crazy. When I finally could see, there was a nice 10 point buck walking away from me, but I had no shot.
I tried to grunt him back but he did not respond. I spent the day watching several deer go by and by late afternoon I was getting worried. I blew a few times on my grunt tube and then out of nowhere I heard the hoof sounds on the rocks like before. Around the cedars and up the trail he comes; my big 10 point was back! He offered me the perfect shot and I took it. He fell 40 yards away and scored 137 7/8 P&Y. This hunt is dedicated to my good friend Gerald Altmann who passed away last summer.

I was sitting my treestand, about 20 feet up on a brisk afternoon and watching a doe feed 50 yards away. The woods were dry and I heard a noise like a freight train coming through the woods. This brute came within 22 yards of me and stopped, but just as I shot he lunged forward, causing the arrow to go into his right hip and stick out the left. I was ashamed of my terrible shot but I could see as he walked away he was hurting pretty bad. I let the woods quiet down, came back two hours later and found him 70 yards from where I shot him. When my arrow went through both hips it took out both femoral arteries and he died quickly. I was impressed with speed and penetration of my bow. 137 1/8 Pope & Young.

My name is Karl Knotts from Saline, Louisiana. I am now 26 years old but I started shooting archery when my dad bought me a bow when I was 15. In late 2003, I suffered a 25ft fall and landed on my neck while hunting. It took a while to get my bearings and realize that I was going to have to help myself out of my situation. I did eventually manage to get up and walk my way out of the woods using a limb as a makeshift walking stick. Needless to say, that was the longest mile walk of my life. Through the grace of God, I only fractured my T7 and was able to walk out of the woods under my own power.

After recovering for about a year, I wanted to try archery again. I picked up my old bow and discovered that it was going to take a lot of work to get back to where I was before. I kept using my old bow to only target shoot with. My brother in law asked me one day why I didn’t bow hunt anymore and I told him I didn’t feel confident in my shooting since my fall. He had just started shooting a BowTech and convinced me to go to a local dealer in Ruston, LA to have him setup a bow for me to try. When we first got up there I was a bit apprehensive about shooting. The dealer talked to me and my brother in law for a long time about the BowTech bows and about the company. He set one up and let me shoot it. I was speechless. All I could force out of my mouth was “Wow”. It was not one of those excited expressions but one softly spoken out of shock and awe. This was the best bow I had shot in my life. It was so smooth and the let off was unreal. I was sold on the spot. I had him setup that exact bow for me and it went home with me! I used to shoot other bow brands but after buying my BowTech Allegiance, my archery life has completely changed. I thought that I would never bow hunt again but thanks to all you hardworking people at BowTech, I was wrong.

I got married back in September of 2007 to the love of my life. One of the best things is she loves to hunt too. I’ve recently talked her into starting archery and now we’re planning on getting the new Equalizer for her. A local cake maker said that if I would design the groom’s cake for the wedding, she would make it for me. I knew immediately that I wanted it to have something about hunting and BowTech on it. I have attached a picture of the cake to this message.

I know this message was long and wordy but I wanted to personally thank the BowTech staff for all they have done and all they do. Keep up the great work!

Thank you,

Karl Knotts

Late in August in Western Colorado, 2007, I took my BowTech Pro 38 on my first Elk hunt and first bow kill. I was 15. I picked a marshy spot to set up one morning, with plenty of bear and elk sign all around. I did some calling, then quieted down for about a half hour when a huge 6×6 bull suddenly rose up out of his bed only 100 yds. off. I was utterly amazed to see him because I hadn’t realized that anything had been bedded down so nearby. At 15 yds., he stopped and I released, hitting him in the lungs. He whirled and ran about 80 yds. before dropping. Approximately 1000 lbs., green-scored 359 3/8 P & Y.
