Tristan Williams: 9 Point Whitetail

triston_williams.jpg

It was Saturday, November 3, 2007. While walking to our hunting shed around 5:30 PM, my son Tristan Williams and and I were talking and spooked a doe off of our bait. We got all settled in and about 10 minutes later we heard leaves rustling. We knew something was coming. I whispered to Tristan to get ready, thinking it was the doe we had spooked coming back. It finally cmae into view and I saw antlers…the first set we had seen all season. The buck walked up to our bait and put his head down to eat an apple. Tristan pulled back his Diamond Edge bow, took a couple of deep breaths and let the arrow fly. It was a perfect shot in the lungs! The deer only went 50 yards. A 32 pound Diamond Edge bow just took down the biggest buck taken by a youth (11 yeards old) in Leelanau County! It all happened within a half hour of hunting and we were home before dark!
